Max’s passion for tennis started at a young age, he loved to watch Wimbledon and Queens on TV whilst volleying a sponge ball against his living room wall, much to the annoyance of his parents! Although Max played tennis throughout his childhood, he never fully committed to one sport as he had so much fun taking part different activities.
It was only when he started assisting at 14, that he realised a real talent for helping kids improve and have fun with their tennis at the simultaneously, this is what Max still loves to this day. He began his coaching career at Sutton Tennis Academy at 17 where he started by leading junior sessions. During his 7 years at the academy, his role expanded and diversified. Max found himself taking on the responsibility of running the cardio tennis program, joining the strength and conditioning team (for which he is also qualified) and heading up kids parties too. This exposure to different programs and players has equipped Max well to deal with a vast range of ages and abilities.
Max also worked at Sutton Tennis & Squash Club, one of the most well-known and prestigious tennis clubs in the area. At 16, he began as a volunteer, helping to run tournaments and match plays for some experience but started paid employment soon after. He found himself being immersed into the junior program and eventually the adult program too, all whilst studying Business with Law full-time at the university. During his 8 years there, Max took on more and more, becoming part of the core coaching team and once again running the cardio tennis program, taking on many junior and adults sessions, as well as working in countless schools in the area.
At 25, Max has already been involved in tennis coaching for over 10 years. He joins the V-tennis team as a full-time coach in 2017 and is intent on bringing tennis to life, helping you improve and keeping it fun for all. Max’s energy and intensity on a court is second to none and rumour has it you’ll hear him before you see him!
