MEET THE V-TENNIS TEAM


Our young, talented coaches have all played at a high level and are committed to helping you get the most out of your tennis.

We are an international bunch with coaches from France, Switzerland, South Africa, Australia and the US.

Currently we have eight coaches, but each year brings one or two new faces from around the world to swell our ranks. We like to keep things fresh and energized.

Coaching rates:

  • Private lesson (1h): £ 35
  • Private lesson (1/2h): £ 17.5
  • Block booking: £ 245 (8h for the price of 7h; T&C apply)

Greg Guillon
(Head Pro)

Born: Dax, France, 1980

Favourite Player: Roger Federer/ Pete Sampras

As an accredited French Federation coach and experienced osteopath, Greg joined V-Tennis coaching team in 2005 and has been the head coach for the last two years. He has been coaching for ten years at club and national level, both in France and the USA. His coaching approach is analytical; Greg believes technique and fitness are the key elements for any player to improve his game.


 

 
Brad Elliott

Born: South Africa, 1986

Favourite Player: Federer

Best Shot: Forehand

Preferred Surface: Hard Court

Brad has been playing tennis since the age of six. During these years he was awarded his Provincial colours for six years running and captained the South Africa national team at U-16 level. He has achieved Level 2 qualification in coaching and has been coaching at schools and tennis clubs for four years. Brad's enthusiastic approach and passion for the game make learning tennis a fun and rewarding experience.  


 

 
Alex Dodd

Born: London, 1990

Favourite player: Lleyton Hewitt

Best shot: attacking forehand

A qualified tennis coach since 14, Alex’s affinity for working with children on a tennis court is self-evident. At 19, he now has experience of coaching both children and adults over a range of  abilities. He has also worked with  children with autism here in the UK, as well as abroad in Romanian orphanages and through  this has further developed instincts for motivating and relating to children. Recently ranked 2nd in Surrey, Alex believes that an intelligent understanding of match-play and continual refinement of technique are vital for any player to up their performance.

 

 

Rolf Rothermel

Born: London, 1984.

Favourite player: Michael Chang

Best shot: Backhand

Preferred Surface: Clay court.

Rolf spent his teenage hood playing tennis at the Bolletieri academy in Florida before moving to Spain to play full-time, training at the Bruguera tennis academy. Following a shoulder and knee operations, Rolf had to stop his tennis career and decided to start coaching tennis in Barcelona then in St Louis, USA. Over the years, Rolf coached all ages and levels, developing a wide range of coaching skills. He believes that motivation is a key element and that anyone can improve his game. 

 

 

                                 Ruben Alcantara
 

Born: Hannover (Germany), natural from Spain, 1982.

Favourite players: Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, Steffi Graff

Best shot: Attacking forehand, volley.

Preferred Surface: Hard court.

Ruben grew up in the South of Spain where tennis is a religion, competing as a junior with Ferrero, Almagro and Verdasco. Ruben played professionally for several years, reaching the top 70 in Spain and gaining 6 ATP points in double. Alongside his tennis career, Ruben developed his coaching skills to become an accredited professional tennis coach in Spain for the past 8 years. Ruben is incredibly enthusiastic on court and he believes that good technique is essential to improve someone's game.

  

 

 Esme Hicks

Born: London, 1992

Favourite Player: Rafael Nadal/ Venus Williams

Best Shot: Forehand

Preferred Surface: Clay court

As a Middlesex Junior Esme trained with Laura Robson. Great with both kids and adults, Esme works on building players' confidence with her enthusiastic approach. Her philosophy: It’s not the size of the dog in the fight that counts; it’s the size of the fight in the dog.

 

 


Arthur Hicks (on leave)

Born: London, 1981

Favourite Player: Andy Roddick

Best Shot: Forehand

Preferred Surface: Clay

A former Middlesex champion, Arthur trained as a junior with Alex Bogdanovich and Anne Keothavong. After honing his talent in Spain and the US, Arthur returned to become Head Pro at V-Tennis. In 2007 he was head hunted to be Sir Richard Branson’s personal coach and is currently Head Pro on Necker Island.
